Hello!
My name is Melody and I’m a qualified English teacher and a full-time private tutor.
I specialise in nurturing confidence and motivation in those who struggle with English, and need extra support. I also offer fully tailored GCSE and A Level tuition for children being educated at home wishing to take their exams at their own pace.
Having taught in a range of secondary schools since qualifying, I made the decision to leave the classroom in July 2020 to found The Little Education Company.
I have now taught over 2,000 hours of tuition, working with a range of young people from 11+ entrants to university-level students.
In 2022, I also started two online book clubs for students aged 8 - 12, aiming to strengthen a love of reading and nurture independent, critical thought.

Installing Confidence
My number one priority is to nurture confidence in my students. I encourage them to write without fear, to find their voice, and banish the dreaded fear of the ‘blank page.’
Building Solid Skill
When it comes to writing, regular practice and reflection is absolutely essential. I offer practical, actionable writing targets after each lesson, which are clear and easy to understand.
Encouraging Creativity
I don’t believe in teaching students ‘how to pass exams’. I focus on developing their ability to adapt to high-pressure exam situations, and building their confidence to be flexible, creative and resilient.
Sharing a Love of Reading
Reading is the cornerstone of learning and I love sharing my love of books and stories with my students. Reading far and wide is by far the best way to develop all English skills - it is by far the best teacher!
Challenging Thinking
I believe that teaching students to think independently is key to overall personal development. I use bespoke questioning methods to help nurture students' thinking, from the simplest cognitive skills (copying, remembering and understanding) to the most complex cognitive skills (analysing, evaluating and creating).
